Revitalization of Public Library and Cultural Centre
The existing Georgetown Branch was extensively renovated and expanded to become universally accessible and energy efficient. The new space allows the library to house a greater variety of materials, offers comfortable study, reading and conversation areas, provides adequate space for programs and better meets the demand for Internet stations. It also includes a seniors' lounge, a listening/viewing centre, small group study rooms, a local history room and a double-sided fireplace.
Alterations to the Cultural Centre, including the tie in to an existing 100 year old church, allowed for a larger lobby space, expanded community meeting room, new washrooms, theatre bar service area and new entry vestibule for the gallery. The theatre seating, lighting, rigging, and stage flooring were also updated.
